Logical Domains on T2000 and Solaris

Requirements

  • You may need to do all or some of these manually:
    • Solaris 10: install 3 patches if your system requires them: 124921-02, 125043-01, 118833-36
    • Install the latest firmware update (126399-01.zip, see Software on W45)

Usage

  • Use: ldm for administrative tasks (/opt/SUNWldm/bin)

Tricks

  • If your changes aren't sticking: Sometimes changes to the primary domain don't survive a reboot (e.g. splitting the PCI bus or removing a vswitch). This appears to be a bug in the logical domains software and is especially annoying since you can't change anything else until the reboot occurs. To make the change stick: first do the appropriate task, then create a new configuration (ldm create-config ). This clones the configuration at the time it was run. Rebooting will launch this new configuration with the changes in place (it will stick this time). If you have multiple changes, then you will need to repeat this trick multiple times. Don't forget to delete the old configs.
