Minutes for OpenSim? Progress Meeting 15 October

Those present: Mike, Johan, Mariusz, Nathan and Nigel.. We discussed boxing/unboxing issues, performance and task repetition. Nigel mentioned that StringBuilder? is a recognised method of reducing garbage collection problems when there are many strings. Johan commented that Object Wrapping was a more likely possibility for improvement, in the packetising code area. Mike is keen that Client Stack performance should be evaluated and the new code shold be available soon.

Mariusz commented he was setting up a machine with four operating systems on it to assist comparative performance evaluations.

In answer to a question from Mariusz about customized OpenSim? Servers, Johan felt that 4GB was a recommended minimum. A comparison between 32 bit Linux and 64 bit Linux would be valuable at some point.
