OpenSim Testbeds and Hardware configurations

Windows XP Testbed (Nigel)

Small Windows-based network linked via a 100 MBit/sec Ethernet:

• 2.93 GHz PC with 1GByte of RAM running XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 SP2.
• 2.19 GHz Dell Inspiron 1100 Laptop with 256 MByte of RAM running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP2.
• and soon a second PC to run the opensim grid servers.

All XP machines will have Microsoft Visual Studio installed for debugging.

Various versions of the server software have been acquired, installed and built. Specifically: Release versions 0.5.0 and 0.5.4, and revision r4357 as recommended by Ryan M.

SQLite and MySQL 5.0 have been installed on both the PC and the laptop. In addition the SQLite ODBC driver and Postgres AnySQL? have been added and the Luckasoft EngInSight Client for MySQL. Postgres is available on the Desktop PCs.

Other useful tools such as the Orbit download manager, NUnit version 2.4.7, csUnit 2.3, and SSH / SFTP have been installed.

SecondLife? has been installed on both machines, and the libs_world45.zip package.

Neither of the release versions of the code compiled but have been lightly modified. All the grid servers and opensim.exe files now work after minor adjustments to the initialisation files. The pCampBot, TestClient? and SecondLife? clients have all been run with varying degrees of success.

Linux-based Testbed (Mariusz)

There are two Linux testbeds. One in CFI office (BOLEK) and one in Pine Hill office (AMD).

Bolek

• Hardware: Intel PentiumD @ 3.6GHz, 1GB RAM (32- and 64-bit system)
• Current OpenSim version deployed: SVN rev.6917 (2008.10.20 - testing)
• Current Mono version deployed: SVN rev.116485 (post 2.0 release, 2008.10.20, testing)
• Linux: Fedora 7, kernel 2.6.21-1.3194 (to be upgraded)

AMD

• Hardware: AMD Opteron 246 dual-chip @ 2.0GHz, 4GB RAM (64-bit system)
• Current OpenSim version deployed: SVN rev.4619 (2008.05.11 - tested)
• Current Mono version deployed: SVN rev.102961 (post 1.9.1 release, 2008.05.11, tested)
• Linux: Fedora Core 8, with 2.6.23 kernel

UltraSPARC/Solaris Testbed (outdated - information needs to be updated)

• Current OpenSim version deployed: SVN rev.4619 (not tested yet)
• Current Mono version deployed: SVN rev.102961 (post 1.9.1 release - not tested yet)
• OpenSolaris Nevada snv_74

Hardware

• 3x Sun UltraSPARC T2000 system, 8-core, 32-way, 1.0GHz, 16GB RAM
